Your photo library

Matisse does not have a library of its own. It reads the photo library already on your device, so everything you have shot is there the moment you open the app, and nothing needs importing.

• Browse your photos as a grid, and tap one to start editing.
• A filmstrip along the bottom of the editor lets you move to the next photo without going back.
• Exported copies land back in your library, dated just after the original so the edit sits next to the photo it came from rather than at the end of your timeline.

Photo access is used for exactly one thing: letting you browse, open and save your own images. Matisse has no account system and no cloud workspace, so there is nowhere for a photo to be uploaded to. See your photos and your data.

If you decline photo access, or grant it to only a few photos, Matisse can only see what you allowed. You can widen it later in the Settings app under Privacy & Security → Photos.
