Install
Download the DMG, put Operator where its helper can reach it, and find it in the menu bar.
- Download the latest DMG from the releases page.
- Open it and drag Operator to your Applications folder.
- Launch it. Operator appears in the menu bar — there is no Dock icon and no main window.
Keep Operator in /Applications. The privileged helper registers from there; running the app from your Downloads folder, or straight out of the disk image, leaves every privileged metric unavailable.
Where it lives
Operator has no window to find. Each metric you enable becomes its own menu-bar status item, and clicking one opens its dropdown. To reach preferences, click any Operator item and open Settings — a Dock icon appears only while that window is open.
Verifying what you downloaded
Every release lists the SHA-256 of its DMG. To check a download against it:
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Operator-1.0.6.dmgGatekeeper already verifies the signature and notarization when you first open the app, so this is belt-and-braces rather than a required step.
Next, decide whether to approve the privileged helper, which unlocks sensors, fans and per-process activity.
