Requirements

What Operator needs from macOS and from your hardware, and what it is signed with.

  • macOS 26 or later. Operator is built against APIs that do not exist on earlier releases, so it will not install on an older system.
  • Apple silicon or Intel. Both are supported by the same universal build.
  • Roughly 10 MB of disk for the app, plus the small privileged helper it registers on first approval.

What your Mac reports is what Operator can show. Fan speeds, SMC sensors and SMART status vary by model — a machine that exposes fewer of them simply shows fewer cards rather than inventing numbers.

Every build is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens it directly, without the right-click detour unsigned apps need. Nothing has to be disabled in System Settings to run it.

Some readings are off limits to any ordinary app and need the privileged helper, which is a separate one-time approval.
